Take My Hand (By the Sea)

“A frustration song… about a person looking for and holding out for a person that doesn’t exist… Often we have imaginations of ideals we transpose onto others…which they could never live up to…nor should they…  When all the while, an ideal person, one that would adore us, is right there…wanting to swoop us up! Since I spent so much of my early life growing up on the wild seas of Alaska, far from civilization (Then again, most Alaska towns aren’t what most people think of as civilization anyway! Ha!), I deeply identify with the ocean… How vast and beautiful it is… How powerful it is…as it could swallow our 40 foot salmon seiner with a mere shrug… We were in rough waters off of Cape Elrington and there were 6 other vessels working our huge nets on that point… And there was this beautiful girl on the Erin… This song is my imagination and nautical dreams about her…”

You’re standing by the sea
Hair is flowin’ in the breeze…alone, alone…
What could behold your eyes?
Like the rise and the fall of the tide, the tide…

You’re waiting for a man who will not come
Living for a dream that never was

Please take my hand, take my heart
We’ll be closer than ever you had thought
We’ll be together now and ever I know that we could last forever on
Take my hand, you’ve already took my heart

When you stand next to me
I can feel a destiny with you, with you
When she stands next to me
Well I feel it in my heart and in my soul, I know

She’s waiting for a man who will not come
Living for a dream that never was

Please take my hand, take my heart
We’ll be closer than ever you had thought
We’ll be together now and ever I know that we could last forever on
Take my hand, you’ve already took my heart

A thousand waves roll in every day
She’s waiting for the one, the one to take her far away

Oh please take my hand, take my heart
We’ll be closer than ever you had thought
We’ll be together now and ever I know our love could last forever on
Take my hand, you’ve already took my heart
